
Panic has gripped the Umulogho community in Imo State after the brutal killing of a female student, Wendy Achumba, in what is now described as an Abia nursing student beheaded in Imo apartment case. The victim, a student of the College of Nursing, Umuadara Umulogho, was discovered dead in her off-campus residence on Thursday evening.
Residents in Umulogho, located in Obowo Local Government Area, said neighbours raised alarm after they repeatedly knocked on her door without any response. They eventually forced entry and found her beheaded inside the locked room.
Sources in the community said the victim, who came from Ngwa in Abia State, had completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing post-basic training at the institution. The shocking discovery has intensified fear across the area, especially among students of the College of Nursing, Umuadara Umulogho.
The Abia nursing student beheaded in Imo apartment incident has further heightened tension in the community after angry youths confronted police officers who arrived at the scene. Residents also reported that the victim’s mobile phone was missing, while the room remained locked from the inside when her body was found.
A resident who spoke anonymously said neighbours broke into the room after several failed attempts to reach her, only to discover her lifeless body with her head severed. Another resident, Ike, said they saw her alive a day before the incident and expressed shock over the development.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, DSP Henry Okoye, said officers had launched an investigation. He added that police had recovered the body and deposited it in the morgue while efforts continued to identify and arrest those responsible.
