The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government, extending Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria and those in the diaspora.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister encouraged Nigerians to embrace the values of selflessness, forgiveness, patience, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He also urged citizens to uphold unity, tolerance, and a strong sense of community, which are essential for national cohesion.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policies that will foster national renewal, economic development, and shared prosperity, while wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
