JAMB Releases Withheld UTME Results After Malpractice Review

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released 279 previously withheld Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results (JAMB withheld UTME results) after completing a review of suspected examination malpractice cases linked to the 2026 UTME.

In a statement issued on Thursday, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin said the board released the results after investigators reviewed several malpractice allegations recorded during the nationwide conduct of the 2026 UTME.

“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released 279 results from those previously held for further investigation. This is in addition to the results earlier released by the Board,” the statement said.

JAMB explained that the JAMB withheld UTME results formed part of batches earlier flagged for detailed scrutiny, alongside other results that the board had already cleared and published after preliminary investigations.

The board stated that investigators cancelled some results after confirming examination malpractice, while they cleared others after finding no prima facie case against the affected candidates.

“The release follows ongoing investigations into cases of suspected examination malpractice. While some results have been outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, others have been released where the board found no prima facie case against the affected candidates,” the statement added.

JAMB also confirmed that results from centres flagged for suspicious activities by its live monitoring team remain under review pending the conclusion of investigations.

“Results from centres where the board’s live monitoring team observed suspicious activities, or where adverse reports were received, remain withheld pending further investigation. Where sufficient evidence of culpability is established, such results will be cancelled,” the board stated.

The board advised candidates whose results remain unavailable to check their status by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration.

More than two million candidates sat for the 2026 UTME across Nigeria.
