Turkish champions Galatasaray have rejected a €120 million bid from Atletico Madrid for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, dealing a major setback to the Spanish club’s pursuit of the prolific forward.
Reports from Forza Cimbom indicate that Atletico Madrid submitted the offer while seeking a proven striker amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of Alexander Sørloth and Julian Alvarez.
Osimhen, 27, completed a permanent move from Napoli to Galatasaray last summer, and his outstanding performances in Turkey have drawn interest from several elite European clubs.
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are closely monitoring Osimhen after Galatasaray rejected Atletico Madrid’s €120m bid for the Nigerian star.
The former Napoli striker has been in superb form, scoring 22 goals and providing eight assists in 32 matches as he helped Galatasaray secure a fourth straight Süper Lig title.
He also played a key role in the club’s UEFA Champions League campaign.
Galatasaray’s decision to reject such a lucrative offer underlines the club’s ambition, especially as it competes outside Europe’s traditional top five leagues.
The Turkish giants spent €75 million to sign Osimhen permanently last summer and offered him a lucrative contract, reinforcing their commitment to keeping the striker.
With the transfer window still open, however, Galatasaray could face renewed pressure if bigger offers arrive in the coming months.
