Real Madrid Eye Osimhen as Mourinho’s Bernabéu Return Talks Intensify

Real Madrid Eye Osimhen as Mourinho’s Bernabéu Return Talks Intensify, with reports linking the Spanish giants to a major squad rebuild and a possible move for Victor Osimhen as Jose Mourinho’s return to the club gathers momentum ahead of next season.

The Spanish giants are planning a major squad rebuild following a turbulent season, with Mourinho said to have already identified the Nigerian forward as a key option to lead his attack if he takes over at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Mourinho has long been an admirer of Osimhen, dating back to their time in Serie A when the striker played for Napoli and Mourinho was in charge of AS Roma. The Portuguese coach has previously compared Osimhen’s playing style to that of Didier Drogba, whom he managed during his spell at Chelsea.

At Real Madrid, it is believed Osimhen’s physical presence could complement the attacking threat of Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, particularly in aerial and hold-up situations where both forwards are seen as more dangerous when supported by a target striker.

Discussions over Mourinho’s potential return to Madrid are also ongoing. Reports suggest his agent, Jorge Mendes, has already made initial contact with the club’s hierarchy, although serious negotiations are expected after the conclusion of the domestic season in Spain and Portugal. Mourinho is currently in charge of Benfica and is said to be open to a return to the Bernabéu.

If appointed, Mourinho is believed to have set out two key conditions. The first is greater influence over transfer decisions, insisting on a strong role in identifying and approving new signings, similar to his first spell at Madrid when he helped bring in players such as Luka Modrić, Mesut Özil, and Sami Khedira.

His second demand relates to internal club structure, with Mourinho reportedly seeking full autonomy for the coaching staff and minimal external interference in dressing room matters should he return to the Spanish capital.
