Blessing CEO N13m Medical Fraud: EFCC Arraigns Influencer, Court Orders Remand

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday arraigned social media influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, over alleged Blessing CEO N13m medical fraud before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Justice Yellim Bogoro ordered her remand at the Nigerian Correctional Service pending trial on September 24, 2026.

EFCC counsel H.U. Kofanaisa told the court that the agency filed a six-count charge against the defendant and asked the court to take her plea.

After the charges were read, Okoro pleaded not guilty to all counts in the Blessing CEO N13m medical fraud case.

The EFCC alleged that she obtained N13m from members of the public by falsely claiming she suffered from a terminal illness, including invasive ductal carcinoma and a breast lump.

The commission also accused her of forging a medical report allegedly issued by Xinus Medical Diagnostics and using it to seek donations from unsuspecting individuals.

Prosecutors further alleged that she used the forged document, concealed the source of the funds, converted the money for personal use, and retained the proceeds in her bank account.

Following her plea, the prosecution asked the court to set a trial date and remand her in custody.Defence counsel Stanley Ofoegbu sought an oral bail application or a short adjournment, noting that he had yet to file a formal bail request.Justice Bogoro rejected the oral application, stating that no formal bail application was before the court.

He adjourned the case until September 24, 2026, and ordered her remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.

The fresh arraignment came one day after Okoro secured bail in another fraud case.

On June 9, 2026, Justice Deinde Dipeolu granted her N10m bail with two sureties in a separate N36m EFCC fraud case.She also appeared before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja over allegations that she defrauded Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited of N69.15m.
