Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali returns to Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 30-year-old rejoined the South African club after spending seven months away from competitive football. His absence affected his form and cost him a place in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United confirmed the move on Sunday through its official social media pages. The club welcomed the goalkeeper back to the Eastern Cape with a warm message.

Nwabali became one of Nigeria’s top goalkeepers after his outstanding displays at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He helped the Super Eagles reach the final with several impressive performances.
His lack of club football in recent months reduced his playing time and affected his position in the national team.
The move gives Nwabali a fresh chance to rebuild his career with regular first-team football. He will also aim to regain his place in the Super Eagles before upcoming international competitions.
