NDC Crisis: Dickson Says Aisha Yesufu Rejected Reps Ticket Offer

Senator Seriake Dickson, leader of the NDC, has claimed that activist Aisha Yesufu rejected a House of Representatives ticket offered by the party during efforts to resolve the ongoing NDC crisis.

Yesufu, a loyal supporter of Peter Obi, moved with him from the Labour Party to the ADC and later the NDC. She had planned to contest the FCT senatorial election on the party’s platform.

However, she later withdrew from the race, citing alleged irregularities in the process.

Amid the NDC crisis, Amanda Pam secured the FCT senatorial ticket that Yesufu had sought.

The activist-turned-politician has since criticised Dickson and the party leadership.

Reacting to a recent television interview by Dickson, Yesufu described part of his remarks as “painfully appalling.

”She argued that Dickson should have used his first major interview after the primaries to reassure party members and promote candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a series of posts on X, she wrote, “Your first one-on-one interview after the primaries, and instead of promoting your candidates and building confidence in the party’s chances for 2027, you made it about yourself.”

Yesufu also dismissed Dickson’s suggestion that some members ignored party rules because of their popularity.

“While I addressed your claim that I did not follow the rules, which I consider unfair, I still urged my supporters to focus on the bigger picture,” she said.

Responding to the NDC crisis, Dickson said the party made sincere efforts to accommodate key figures but faced resistance from some of them.

According to him, the leadership offered Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket to strengthen the party’s electoral prospects.

“We offered Aisha Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket, but she said it was too small for her,” Dickson stated.

He insisted that claims of sidelining certain members were false, arguing that the party created opportunities for those willing to work within its structure.

Dickson maintained that internal disagreements should not distract from the party’s goal of providing Nigerians with a credible political alternative.

He also urged supporters of Peter Obi to help build the party rather than undermine it.

“Anybody who believes in Peter Obi becoming president should not be talking down on the NDC or its leadership. You’re hurting yourself,” he said.
