The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed Kwankwaso exit rumours, denying claims that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso threatened to leave the party over disputes linked to candidate selection in Kano State.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, described the reports as baseless speculation designed to weaken the party’s image.
He stated this during an interview on Arise News over the weekend.
Addressing the Kwankwaso exit rumours, Director said the former Kano State governor never threatened to quit the NDC and blamed political opponents for spreading false narratives about a crisis within the party.
According to him, rival political interests are pushing the reports to create the impression that the NDC is divided.
His remarks followed reports alleging that Kwankwaso was unhappy with recent changes to the party’s candidate list in Kano State.
The controversy emerged after the NDC replaced some nominees originally submitted by the Kwankwasiyya movement, the political group loyal to Kwankwaso.
