Over one million voters will choose a new governor today in the Ekiti governorship election across Ekiti State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,028,929 voters who collected Permanent Voter Cards will vote in 2,445 polling units across 16 local government areas.
The commission recorded 1,059,360 registered voters, while major parties expect strong turnout from supporters across the state.
In the Ekiti governorship election, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) faces Dr Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and David Opeyemi Falegan of the Accord Party.

Security agencies have stationed personnel across local government areas and border communities to prevent disruptions and criminal infiltration.
Civil society groups under the EU-SDGN Election Observation Hub have urged INEC to open polling units on time and ensure proper BVAS functionality.
