The APC 2027 re-election campaign has received support from opposition figures, including Nyesom Wike, Charles Soludo and Ademola Adeleke, according to the party’s national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
Yilwatda disclosed the development on Tuesday while receiving a delegation led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development.
He said the ruling party had approached opposition leaders across several states. The APC wants them to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The APC 2027 re-election campaign has reportedly secured the cooperation of Wike, Soludo and Adeleke despite their different political affiliations. Yilwatda said the party appealed to the three politicians after contesting against them or their political platforms.
Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, remains a prominent PDP figure. However, he has maintained political ties with the APC-led Federal Government.
Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, was elected under the PDP but later joined the Accord Party.
Speaking about Osun State, Yilwatda explained that the APC approached Adeleke after losing the governorship election.
“In Osun State, we contested the election against the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, of the Accord. Our party lost that election, but we approached the governor. We begged him and asked him to work for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. He agreed to work for the President’s re-election,” he said.
The APC chairman also discussed the party’s engagement with Soludo in Anambra State. He said the party appealed to the governor to support Tinubu despite losing the state election to APGA.
“We appealed to him to come and work for us, work for our party and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. He agreed to work for us,” Yilwatda stated.
He added that the APC also approached Wike to secure his support in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.
“We begged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, to work for the party. He has agreed to work for the candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Rivers State and the FCT,” he said.
Yilwatda maintained that the APC’s outreach to opposition politicians was driven by national interest rather than party loyalty.
He stressed that the initiative aimed to advance Nigeria’s interests beyond partisan politics.
“The interest goes beyond political parties. This is in the interest of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and that is why we are doing what we are doing,” he added.
The reported cooperation highlights the political alliances emerging ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
