President Bola Tinubu has said that interfaith dialogue to end insecurity is the best way to solve Nigeria’s security problems. He spoke on Saturday, July 4, while meeting Archbishop Paul Gallagher, a Vatican official, at his residence in Abuja.
Tinubu made the statement during a meeting with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations of the Holy See. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga shared details of the meeting.
The President said his government will continue to support peace, religious tolerance, and unity among people of different faiths across Nigeria.
Tinubu said interfaith dialogue to end insecurity remains important because religious groups help to build peace. He added that he has enjoyed a good relationship with the Catholic Church since serving as Lagos State governor.
The President also praised the Catholic Church for its work in education and healthcare. He said this was why he returned mission schools to their original religious owners after becoming governor of Lagos.
