Anthony Joshua third world title bid gathers momentum ahead of Prenga clash

Anthony Joshua’s third world title bid has taken center stage as the former heavyweight champion intensifies preparations for his return to the ring, with promoter Eddie Hearn revealing that the British boxer is fully focused on reclaiming the heavyweight crown.

Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on July 25, before a potential blockbuster showdown against Tyson Fury later this year. Hearn stressed that both contests are crucial if Joshua hopes to revive his third world title bid and return to the summit of heavyweight boxing.

According to Hearn, Joshua remains determined to become heavyweight champion again while also settling unfinished business with Fury. The promoter explained that victory in the upcoming bouts would place the former champion back among the division’s elite contenders.

The road to Anthony Joshua’s third world title bid has not been easy. The former champion recently suffered defeat to Daniel Dubois and was also involved in a serious car accident in Nigeria, experiences that Hearn admitted could weigh heavily on the fighter mentally and emotionally heading into his comeback fight.

Despite those setbacks, Hearn said Joshua has shown strong commitment and intensity in training camp, although he acknowledged the real challenge will come once the boxer steps back into competitive action.

The promoter added that many fans expect Joshua to comfortably defeat Prenga, but insisted the pressure surrounding the bout should not be underestimated because of everything the fighter has experienced in recent months.

A victory over Prenga would likely set up the long-awaited clash with Fury, and success in that fight could open the door for Joshua to challenge for the heavyweight championship once again and complete his quest for a third reign at the top.
