Osun APC Demands Account of N14.9bn Security Votes from Adeleke

Osun APC demands account of N14.9bn security votes as the party’s governorship campaign council asked Governor Ademola Adeleke to explain the deployment of Osun Amotekun Corps operatives and the management of security funds under his administration.

In a statement issued on Monday, the council’s Director-General, Oluwole Oke, raised concerns over reports that some Amotekun personnel were assigned to duties at a private energy facility in Ondo State.

Oke said available information showed that dozens of Amotekun operatives were stationed at Pacific Energy Company in Omotosho Village along the Benin-Ore Road in Ondo State.

Osun APC demands account of N14.9bn security votes and questioned why operatives of the state-backed security outfit were reportedly deployed outside Osun while many communities continued to face security threats.

He described the alleged deployment as unacceptable, arguing that personnel funded by Osun taxpayers should focus on protecting residents of the state rather than guarding a private business outside its jurisdiction.

The council also cited the reported death of an Amotekun operative, Abdullahi Adedeji, who allegedly sustained severe head injuries in a motorcycle accident while travelling to Ondo State for an assignment in April 2026.

According to the statement, the officer later died after he reportedly failed to receive adequate medical care and support following the accident.

The APC campaign council further questioned the management of security funds, claiming that records available to it showed Governor Adeleke had accessed N14.9 billion in security votes.

Oke argued that despite the funds, the government had not expanded the security assets inherited from the previous APC administration.

He claimed that the state had not provided additional vehicles or other equipment to support security agencies operating in Osun.

The council also faulted explanations it said were offered regarding the expenditure of the security votes.

According to Oke, reports suggesting that the N14.9 billion was used mainly for the operations and honorarium of Amotekun personnel raised further concerns.

The council maintained that residents deserved greater transparency and accountability on security spending.

It also urged Governor Adeleke to explain why Amotekun operatives were allegedly deployed to protect private business interests linked to his family outside Osun State while insecurity persisted in parts of the state.

As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government had not responded to the allegations. Efforts to reach the Commissioner for Information for comments were unsuccessful.
