Bandits Kill Two Abducted Women in Kaduna After Ransom Payment

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed two young women among a group of 14 people abducted from Janjala community in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State on March 1, 2026.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped alongside a vigilante member, his wife, and 11 others during the attack on the community. Following the abduction, the assailants demanded a ransom of N14 million for their release.

Despite repeated appeals from the families, the kidnappers refused to lower their demand. The families eventually managed to raise N13 million, which was delivered to the bandits at a location near the Hayin Dam forest in neighboring Kachia Local Government Area.

However, after receiving the payment, the bandits released only some of the female captives while holding back the male victims. They also informed the families that two of the abducted women had been killed.

A source in the area revealed that the victims were allegedly shot after resisting attempts by the gunmen to sexually assault them. According to the source, the leader of the group ordered their execution when they refused to comply.

The attackers are said to be demanding the remaining N1 million balance, along with food supplies, before releasing the remaining captives.

Security sources have confirmed the killing of the two women, although details remain limited. A community leader also corroborated the development, stating that the news of the killings was relayed by a relative of one of the victims.Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Hassan Mansur, for official comment were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered.
